Xtreme Sports Expo

It turns out that not only does Statesville host the world championships of slalom skateboarding, they also host the Xtreme Sports Expo. Pretty cool right? Welllll....It's held in the parking lot of the Landmark Church of God. There was a band and everything. A christian band....at an xtreme sports expo. I don't know. Something's just not quite right with that.

Oh yeah. Also hosted by the Landmark Church of God (I'm not clear if it's at the same time as the expo) is the Halo 3 tournament. Really??, you might ask.
Yes. Really.

I f@#%ing knew it!!

I told you. Full moon. Lindsay (2 yr old) fell on Jones (dog). Jones bit Lindsay on the head. Great. Now we are a wt family.

It's a Full Moon Tonight

I can't wait to see how bonkers my kids are tonight. Most likely it will be exactly like any other night, only this time I can blame it on the full moon.

Rock and Roll Band

One of the things we (Lindsay and I) do during the day is to play music and play on our "guitars" (plastic golf clubs)It's one of the most fun things we do. She really gets into it, and so I. That said, here's a great poem by Shel Silverstein:

If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
We'd travel all over the land.
We'd play and we'd sing and wear spangly things.
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.

If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
And we were up there on the stand,
The people would here us and love us and cheer us.
Hurray for that rock 'n' roll band.

If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
Then we'd have a million fans.
We'd giggle and laugh and sign autographs,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.

If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
The people would all kiss our hands.
We'd be millionaires and have extra long hair,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.

But we ain't no rock 'n' roll band,
We're just seven kids in the sand.
With homemade guitars and pails and jars
And drums of potato chip cans.

Just seven kids in the sand.
Talk'n and waven' our hands.
And dreamin' and thinkin' oh wouldn't it be grand,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.

Statesville Skateboarding

The great Greg Barbera (punk-rocker, at-home-dad extraordinaire, NPR regular) of Durham, NC let me know that Statesville hosts the World Championship of slalom skating, or something like that.

Here's a link to read all about it:

This is quite a skateboard friendly community. I see skaters all the time. If I hadn't been reallllly bad at it 20 years ago, I may have the itch to join them. But, as I have gotten very accident prone the older I get, I won't be giving it go.

Finding Culture

I'm learning that to find culture where you think there isn't any, you really have to quit looking and trip over it. I love art (as in paintings) Sometimes you just see a piece of art and you can't help but to stop and look. When I say stop, I mean stop everything. Stop moving, stop thinking, stop listening. I love it when that happens. Well, needless to say, that has not happened to me in a long time. And it still hasn't, but I really liked this one anyway.

My Hot Wife

Wow it's been a while. That's because I live in Statesville, NC where there is nothing of interest. So, here's a picture of my hot wife.
